Tenerife University

La Laguna University, Tenerife North, was named after the city of its location.

The University is a public institution that offers a higher education service as demanded by Spanish Constitution and Law.

The Universities activity in the city of La Laguna dates from 1701 when the Augustinian Friars established a centre for higher education.

The University of La Laguna received it’s definitely and current status in 1927.

La Laguna University is located on Tenerife in the center of the Canary Islands.

Due to its privileged geographical location west of the northwestern coast of Africa, the beauty of the landscape, and the mild climate, the Canary Islands attract lots of tourists throughout the year. However, the islands look back on an exiting history and the university celebrated its 200th anniversary as a public university in 1992.

In addition to the curriculum at the medical school, the University’s 55 departments offer 21 other degree programs.

At present, the University has more than 26,000 students, almost 800 technical and administrative staff and about 1,700 lecturers.
