Tenerife wines awarded 8 world medals

The awards created in 1996 are now seen by the wine industry as the \'world championships\' of wines and now has more than 6,000 products entered from across the world. All the wines entered compete against one another for the spoils of gold medal status in each section with a silver and bronze award also being given. The total of enteries represent more than 500 million bottles of wine produced in the market each year. This year is the 16th edition of the competition, which was composed solely of professionals and meets each year to decide the winners. This year saw Tenerife based wines win no less than 8 awards with 2 of the wines picking up the top gold medal, with the remaining six winning a silver medal.
