Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said the appointment would be made during the next ministerial shuffle His announcement came last Wednesday, when Zapatero received the country’s victorious Davis Cup tennis team. Their stunning victory against Argentina followed Rafael Nadal’s Wimbledon win, the football team’s European Championship success over Germany and cyclist Carlos Sastre’s Tour de France triumph. â€We are among the best countries in the world due to your success. It is easy to be in the G8 of sport,†said the Prime Minister with a smile. He was referring to his efforts to join the elite group of countries at this month’s crisis summit in Washington. Zapatero welcomed the tennis squad who beat Argentina at the weekend to give Spain its third Davis Cup title: Feliciano Lopez, Fernando Verdasco, David Ferrer and Marcel Granollers, plus world No1 Nadal, who is injured, and Nicolas Almagro, who both took part earlier in the competition.
